How Language Evolves?

How do you find the use of contemporary forms of traditional phrases and words in books? Remember Shakespeare- ‘thee- thou’. The change to ‘you’ occurred ages ago. What about current times? Have you come across IDK or OMG in any recent book or story you read recently?

Internet or messaging slang- short forms of some common words and phrases used in text messaging, Whatsapp, social media. Does LMAO or FOMO register in your vocab?

With time will some of the words/phrases as we know at present permanently change to the Internet forms. Words evolve, a phenomenon that is not new. It has happened before. Some examples below have already found their way into mainstream usage.
